3/10/12 - Streaks Head to Sterling First Chance Meet
Meet: Sterling First Chance Indoor
Date: Saturday, March 10th
Where: Westwood Sports Complex (Sterling, IL)
Noteworthy Teams: Geneseo, Dixon, St. Charles North, Alleman, Pontiac
Meet Preview: Many of the schools competing Saturday will be in the Class 2A Sectional that is north of the Peoria sectional. BUT, a couple of the teams we will see again in Charleston at the end of May. This meet will be a measuring stick of where we are in the early competitive season. One of the most intriguing things this weekend will be to look at some new faces in different events. Will Anderson will make his track debut in the HJ and LJ. He has trained throughout basketball season on his speed and footwork and look to see positive things from him. Freshman Ben Holloway will see his first action of the season in the sprints and jumps. He was a handful on the track in junior high and in the IESA State meet last year. We are glad to have him on the track team and eager to watch him compete. The baseball team recommended Tyler Gregory be a track man, and they are right. Tyler has had some spectacular showings in practice this week and looks to make an impact right away this weekend. Also returning this week from injury, Grant Boydstun and John Cordova will be back on the track this week as both work towards getting as look in the sprint relays and 4x400 relay. Zane Crowl will take an adavantage of an opportunity to move up the ladder in the shot put in an always spectacular field of throwers at Sterling as well.
